Conference — New Orleans — 2009-2013
TribeCon was an annual Halloween conclave of various tribes of online communities hosted in New Orleans on the fairgrounds of the Voodoo Music Experience.
In 2009, Voodoo built the world’s longest picnic table where we hosted a jambalaya lunch listening to the sounds of the bands as they sound checked on stage.
A curated program tailored to inspire audiences at the intersection of music and technology, TribeCon was a beacon drawing crowds to New Orleans each year an creating an economic development layer for the Voodoo Experience.
Themes over the years with TribeCon ranged from: Origins of Community to Unplugged – creative inspiration from analog pursuits.
TribeCon was the first conference fully integrated with the powerful economic engines that music festivals in New Orleans provide. This helped diversify the economy and over the years attract tremendous talent to New Orleans, including a number of people who moved to the city after attending TribeCon. We even can claim one happy marriage as a TribeCon outcome.
